Evaluation kits available to order now, giving Real Time Location System (RTLS) engineers a ready-to-use UWB platform without the antenna design burden.

Belfast, September 2026 – AntennaWare, specialists in antennas for on-body and other difficult platforms, today announced that its patented BodyWave™ antennas have been specified in both the Omlox Tags and the SFM11 UWB modules supplied by SynchronicIT, Netherlands-based specialists in ultra-wideband indoor localisation and the Omlox open standard for industrial RTLS.

The Omlox Tags are body-worn devices built on SynchronicITs Omlox Tag Stack, now with BodyWave™ included as standard. The SFM11 is a UWB module for integration into third-party PCBs, also specifying BodyWave™, and is available as part of SychronicIT’s evaluation kit alongside Omlox Satellites. The evaluation kit gives RTLS developers a ready-to-use UWB platform to assess the technology before committing to their own design. The SFM11 modules, Omlox tags and Omlox Satellites are also available as white-label products to save the effort of hardware and optional embedded software design.

Body-worn UWB RTLS has applications across industrial and logistics environments, healthcare, sports performance and wearables, and professional live events — any setting where real-time reliable location of people or animals is operationally critical.

Body-worn UWB has historically been unreliable. Tissue and metal surfaces detune conventional antennas and absorb radiated energy, causing link budgets to fall and position updates to drop-out in Non-Line-of-Sight (NLoS) conditions. In a walk test conducted using SynchronicITs standard UWB modules vs the BodyWave UWB modules, a standard chip antenna reported location errors up to 70 metres (multipath results) in NLoS conditions. BodyWave™ addresses this at the antenna level, recording link budget improvements of 6-12dB in NLoS conditions, translating to double the range, half the power consumption, and position data that offers the reliability required for real-time, mission-critical applications.

Omlox Tags, SFM11 modules, and evaluation kits are now available to order via synchronicit.nl or through antennaware.com. AntennaWare and SynchronicIT first announced their partnership at Embedded World 2026 in March. Today’s announcement confirms BodyWave™ as a specified component across SynchronicIT’s product range for body-worn applications and will be highlighted on AntennaWare’s booth (Booth C2.608) at this year’s Electronica in Munich.

Dr Gareth Conway, CEO and Co-Founder of AntennaWare said, “Designers building body-worn UWB products have largely had to choose between antenna performance and time to market. Having BodyWave available as a specified component in SynchronicIT’s Omlox modules and tags removes that trade-off.”

Vincent Van der Locht, CEO, SynchronicIT added, “Accurate distance measurements for position estimation in a NLoS situation is challenging. Using BodyWave makes the body blocking effect almost disappear and allows reliable position information independent of the orientation of the person.”
