BodyWave™ antenna technology delivers a viable monopole alternative for Sub-GHz Wi-Fi HaLow applications

Our latest partnership is bringing a new level of performance to Wi-Fi HaLow deployments. We have joined forces with Morse Micro, a Sydney, Australia-headquartered specialist in Wi-Fi HaLow technology, to deliver robust, low-profile wireless connectivity for Industrial IoT, Healthcare, and Smart Agriculture applications operating in the sub-1 GHz band.

Wi-Fi HaLow: Long-range capability with a persistent vulnerability

Wi-Fi HaLow enables the extended range and superior penetration demanded by applications such as advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) 2.0 and grid-edge intelligence. However, devices are traditionally deployed using monopole antennas to achieve the distances required across Industrial, Construction, Healthcare, and Smart Agriculture environments. Monopoles are inherently vulnerable to physical damage, and a damaged antenna means downtime — a critical failure point for systems that depend on real-time data.

The BodyWave™ solution

The BodyWave™ antenna, based on patented technology, improves link margins for on-metal and on-body use cases by 6 to 12dB in non-line-of-sight (NLoS) conditions, with comparable performance in line-of-sight. These gains deliver a material increase in range and/or a significant reduction in power consumption — "Double the distance, half the power." Available in low-profile SMT and external monopole replacement form factors, BodyWave™ enables Wi-Fi HaLow device designers to achieve the same coverage as a traditional monopole, without the fragility, bulk, or design compromises.

AntennaWare CEO and Co-Founder Dr Gareth Conway commented: "BodyWave™ has consistently proven its ability to deliver monopole-class performance in a low-profile form factor across multiple frequencies. This partnership with Morse Micro will give design teams working with Wi-Fi HaLow a credible path to more durable, ergonomic products without sacrificing the range their applications demand."
