Field Application Engineer
About AntennaWare
AntennaWare is a Northern Ireland–based technology company pioneering BodyWave™ antenna technology, a unique approach to body-centric wireless communication. Our antennas enable reliable, high-performance wireless links for wearables, medical devices, and next-generation IoT products operating in and around the human body.
We’re looking for a Field Applications Engineer (FAE) to work closely with our customers and partners, accelerating the integration of our innovative antenna technologies into their products. This is a hands-on, customer-facing engineering role that combines deep technical knowledge with practical problem-solving and strong communication skills.

This role combines technical expertise, practical problem-solving, and customer engagement, with opportunities to work across a wide variety of wireless technologies and products.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with both sales and customers to integrate our antenna technologies into their products and systems.
- Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and design recommendations throughout development.
- Perform antenna evaluations, system tuning, and performance optimization.
- Work with a wide range of wireless technologies (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, UWB, DECT, UHF radio and more).
- Develop and maintain embedded software for testing and demo platforms.
- Support sales and engineering teams with technical documentation, presentations, and customer meetings.
- Conduct on-site visits and technical training, including occasional travel to customer sites, trade shows, exhibitions and industry events.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Right to work in the UK.
- Strong practical understanding of RF principles and antenna integration.
- Experience with RF testing equipment (VNA, spectrum analyser, signal generator, etc).
- Experience working with multiple radio technologies (e.g., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cellular, UWB).
- Proficient in embedded programming (C/C++, etc).
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for both hardware and firmware.
- Strong communication and customer-facing abilities.
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple projects concurrently.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in antenna design on difficult platforms.
- Antenna impedance matching
- Proficiency with CST Microwave Studio or other for antenna design and simulation.
- Hands on experience using a range of wireless SoC.
- Experience implementing positioning/localisation technologies.
- Experience with Python or MATLAB for simulation post-processing or optimisation.
- Familiarity with IoT product development or wearable devices.
- Understanding of compliance testing and wireless certification processes.
- Ability to prepare and deliver technical presentations and reports.
- Previous experience in a FAE or applications support role.
What We Offer
- Opportunity to work at the cutting edge of wearable and body-centric communications.
- Collaborative, innovative work environment in a fast-growing company.
- Competitive salary and benefits package including private healthcare, gym membership and private car parking.
